Support Us In a time of crisis in healthcare, PHC offers a remedy. Many people with little or no health insurance go to emergency rooms to address primary care medical needs. This places a huge economic burden on taxpayers and increases the cost of healthcare for all of us. Some go without care until their conditions worsen, further increasing costs. Scott Anderson, CEO of Zion's Bank stated in an article in the Salt Lake Tribune that "Utah's uninsured already cost taxpayers, businesses, consumers, and others $900,000,000 annually." The cost of a visit PHC is a fraction of the cost of an ER visit. And the cost of a visit to PHC is borne largely by individual donors, foundations, and the patients themselves.
Approximately 40% of the People's Health Clinic's income is provided by private funders - including individuals, corporations, and religious groups, as well as a donation requested of each patient per visit.
Taking care of our own is a Park City tradition. Your donation goes to patient care. Approximately 75 cents of every dollar People's Health receives reaches the patients, through direct care, assistance with medication costs, or patient education. Well over $100,000 a year in donated services stretch those dollars even more.
Finally, in the words of Dr. Paul Farmer, Director of Partners in Health: For me, an area of moral clarity is: you're in front of someone who's suffering and you have the tools at your disposal to alleviate that suffering or even eradicate it, and you act. |
