Doctoring at PHC

New providers are always welcome!

If you decide to volunteer with the People’s Health Clinic, here’s what you can expect:

  • A staff Medical Director or Clinic Coordinator on duty for consultation
  • Time to spend with your patients – as needed
  • A friendly and competent corps of staff and volunteers to assist you
  • Lab services with quick turnaround time
  • Referral services to local specialists/facilities for diagnosis and treatment
  • A “can do” and collegial atmosphere

Let us answer some of your questions:

Q: What type of healthcare providers do you need?

A:  Everyone is welcome.  Our volunteers are family doctors, specialists, Physician’s Assistants, physical therapists, mental health counselors and many others.

Q: When do you need me?

A: The Clinic is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we see general medicine, chronic disease, and pediatric patients.  Wednesday is the OB Clinic.

Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and we are closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day.

Providers can set their own schedules during these times.  Some providers come weekly for two to five hours.  Others come once a month or so.

Q: How do I sign up?

A: Contact Patti Peters – patti@phcpc.org or 435.333.1879.

Q : How many patients will I see?

A: That depends on your schedule.  The Clinic generally schedules between 40 – 65 patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The number of providers is different every day.

Q: What documents do you need from me?  Do I need a medical license?  Insurance?

A:  We will need a copy of your current medical license and your DEA and NPI numbers.  Malpractice insurance is not required for volunteers, by Utah State law “Health Care Providers Immunity from Liability Act”.  Read more about that here.

Q: Can you accommodate Medical Students?

A:  Most of the time.  We can only schedule one for Tuesday and one for Thursday.

Q: Is there a required time commitment?

A: There is not.  Whatever time you can commit to caring for patients at People’s Health Clinic would be great.

Q: When can I start?!

A: Please make an appointment to meet with Patti, the Volunteer Coordinator.  You’ll complete an application, meet the staff and tour the facility.  Bring a copy of your current license, DEA and NPI numbers, if applicable.  Then you’re ready to go!
