$1M Donation Will Fund Endowment for
People’s Health Clinic

Park City resident Elizabeth “Beano” Solomon made a $1 million gift to People's Health Clinic to create The John Hanrahan Medical Director Endowment for the Summit County nonprofit. The bequest is intended to build a cornerstone that will lead to additional community contributions to the endowment and ensure that the 22-year-old clinic is sustained far into the future.

People’s Health Clinic Medical Director Dr. John Hanrahan said "Beano has a great heart and soul and has committed herself to improving our community in so many ways. I am so grateful for her support of People's Health Clinic and our uninsured patients. Without Beano's generosity, we simply could not provide the quality of medical care, the range of services, or the every weekday access."

Meet Dr. Mairi Leining!!

People's Health Clinic

New Medical Director

Dr. Mairi Leining, long-standing volunteer medical provider at People's Health Clinic, is taking on the role of Medical Director! She will replace Dr. John Hanrahan, who recently announced he will be retiring on April 15, 2021. We asked Dr. Mairi to share her thoughts about her new position:

Why People’s Health Clinic and what do you hope to accomplish here as the new MD?

While working as a hospitalist at the Park City Hospital, I quickly realized how critical People's Health Clinic is to the well-being of our uninsured community members.  When patients are discharged from the hospital, they must have a reliable health care system in place to safely manage chronic health conditions. People's Health Clinic provides this essential service in addition to offering comprehensive preventative care.  As the Medical Director, I hope to continue Dr. Hanrahan's vision that all of our residents deserve equal access to quality health care.  I look forward to expanding PHC programs to meet the growing needs of our diverse uninsured population.

What is your inspiration to do good in the world as a doctor?

I read a quote by Dr. Paul Farmer that changed the course of my medical practice, "For me, an area of moral clarity is: you're in front of someone who's suffering and you have the tools at your disposal to alleviate that suffering or even eradicate it, and you act."
